Hi, it's Rob. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for all the love and support that has been expressed for Mary. We love you all. We have started a GoFundMe to help with the arrangements of Mary's funeral service and medical expenses. We are all very saddened by the passing of our beloved Mary Long Santiago at 4:45am on February 11, 2024.
Mary grew up in Hawai'i with her mom, sister, and brother, and her extended family from Korea. She was a sweet and gentle kid who loved to care for animals and collect beautiful things.
Always an artist, Mary spent her life creating magical gifts for friends and family, eventually finding herself at the University of Hawai'i for horticulture. But it was the art classes where Mary would find endless inspiration.
Surrounded by a large group of creative artistic friends, Mary was able to be her true self.
Mary's life in Hawai'i with her family and friends meant the world to her.
Mary moved to Seattle, WA, and instantly fell in love with the diverse ecosystem, rainforests, oceans, and mountains of snow and would now call this place her home. Mary would nurture a beautiful extended family filled with celebrations, outings, and moments that will always be remembered.
Mary's life was changed when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2021. Mary lived with cancer with bravery, joy, and love, supported by all who loved her.
Mary leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Rob Santiago, her mom, Jinni Kido, her older sister, Naomi Kim Eagleson, and her younger brother, Adam Ito, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, and in-laws.
On behalf of Mary and all her family we love you and hope you are all taking time to care for yourselves.
You are invited to attend the viewing (1p-4p) and funeral services (4p-5p) to be held on Feb 22nd at Columbia Funeral Home, 4567 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118.
