My mother, Mary Kelley has been many things throughout her life: Social Worker, Teacher, and Single Mother of twins are just a few of the hats she's worn over the years. Now she's finding herself in a new role: critical care patient.

Just a few weeks ago, Mary suffered a life-threatening medical emergency that has required 16 surgeries and a lengthy stay in the Intensive Care Unit.

Now on the road to recovery, Mary is facing a mountain of medical bills. If we can raise enough money to make retroactive payments on her insurance, we'll be able to take care of the vast majority of the bills.

If we get enough donations of just $10 or $20 (about the cost of eating out for a night), my mother will be able to pay off her medical bills, obtain vital medications, and come home from the hospital without missing payments on rent and other expenses.

My goal with this GoFundMe campaign is to be able to wake up on Christmas morning and tell my mother that everything is going to be okay. I want to tell her that she won't have to move out of her house; that she won't have to skip medications, and that she'll be taken care of until she's ready to go back to being a social worker this spring.
