Mary Gold’s Leiomyosarcoma Support Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi, I am reaching out to our friends and family to raise funds for my daughter, Mary who was recently diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma. Mary had surgery to remove a fast growing mass near her left ankle. Although the doctors hoped the mass was benign, it was not and she has to have a second surgery to remove the rest of the cancer cells. This is a longer recovery process than the first surgery and will require her husband to stay home to care for her, their 4 year old daughter, Charlotte, and 2 dogs. The doctors appointments and surgeries are in Akron, and they have already had to take significant time off of work for driving, appointments, and recovery time from the first surgery.
Leiomyosarcoma is a type of rare cancer that grows in the smooth muscles. Thankfully it was caught early enough in her ankle that it can be cured with surgery. The next steps are a scan to rule out cancer in other parts of her body, consultation for surgery and then the second surgery will be as soon as possible. All will be in Akron.
Please help alleviate some of the stress of the financial burden that medical emergencies cause so that Mary can focus on surgery and recovery. Thankfully most of the medical expenses are covered through insurance but the time off of work is causing hardship.
Donations will go toward: groceries, rent, utility bills, toiletries, dog food, and gas for Akron appointments and surgery.
If you would like to help in other ways you can:
- Send Doordash gift cards (for meals, toiletries, bandages and more).
- Donate directly through Venmo (@marycgold) or Cashapp ($marycgold).
