Help send Mary Demetra to Dance in Greece

At just 3 yrs old Mary Demetra brought us to tears with her heartfelt interpretation of a flower growing towards the sun. In that instant we knew she was born to dance.

Today at 15 years old she continues to amaze us with her talent and pure desire to express herself through the beautiful art of dance. Dance is like an extension of her feelings. It comes from her soul and changes the energy that affects us all in a positive way.

Mary Demetra had a very successful 2023 dance competition season. She placed top in her style categories and placed in the Overalls for her solos and group numbers.

Recently she was awarded an invitation to travel to Greece with the VIEW Dance Challenge to participate in an 8 day dance & performance intensive, consisting of master classes with International choreographers in dancing in addition to a nightly performance in a traditional Greek Theatre.

Dancers across Canada who have demonstrated versatility, determination and passion were selected and Mary Demetra is very proud to be among 20 young dancers from Canada attending this prestigious event this July.

While it is a great honour to be chosen for this once in a lifetime opportunity, this invitation comes with a significant cost.

'Throughout my years as a dancer, I've been motivated by the passion that's been there since day 1. It's made me resilient and keeps me pushing forwards. Dance keeps me active, social and creative, allowing me to learn and grow as person.

This was a very unexpected but extremely exciting invitation to dance in Greece. This opportunity would be so meaningful as it would be intertwining my passion and my Greek heritage. It will be an unforgettable memory for me and an opportunity I will be forever grateful for.
