A year ago, our family was devastated by the news that my mother was diagnosed with uterine Cancer. At the time, it was concentrated in one area and the doctors felt that with surgery it would clear the decks, though there was always a chance it would return. The surgery went poorly and though the problem area was removed, it took such a toll on her body that she has been unable to walk (let alone have Chemo/radiation treatment) since the surgery.
She worked so hard with her PT just to be able to walk again over the past 8 months, but still to weak for treatment, the cancer returned...in a much worse way. Now, our only option is Immunotherapy, which has promise...but is expensive and we are not sure if it will be fully covered by insurance.
Aside from the costly treatment, the real reason for this is to help pay for in home care. My father is doing everything for my mother since she can’t walk and is in need of full time care...and at 81, that’s a tall order for him to do.
My mother dedicated her life to teaching. There’s nothing in life that brought her more joy than helping her students with both school and life...now she is the one who needs a little help.
thank you!
