Mary Carol Knight-Mother of 5 Battling Cancer

UPDATE: The family of Mary Carol Knight released her into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2023, rejoicing that she had won her battle with cancer and received her eternal healing. Donations made after her passing have gone to outstanding medical bills.
Dear friends, one of the sweetest and most courageous families I know needs our help! Mary Carol Knight, 46, of Murfreesboro, TN, is bravely fighting Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, and her family needs our fervent prayers and financial support. I met the Knights when serving once a week as a caregiver and immediately fell in love with this beautiful family. They are walking through a very painful time in their lives and are doing it with such grace and faith, that they are an inspiration not only to their church family at Joy Church International in Mt. Juliet but also to everyone who knows them. However, medical bills are piling up and the costs to the family for Mary Carol’s therapies continue to escalate, while funds for ongoing living expenses are uncertain. Mary Carol’s husband, Kerry, has had to take leave from his job, without pay, to help care for his wife 24 hours a day, raise the children (who are homeschooled), run the household and coordinate appointments, insurance, the kids’ activities and all of the other demands of everyday life. (And he’s doing an amazing job to have had to step into so many roles suddenly.) Sadly, when Mary Carol’s diagnosis came last November, the Knights were just getting back on their feet from a devastating financial loss. In 2019, they started a franchise fitness center in Murfreesboro, but just as they were getting it off the ground, the Covid lockdown happened. They lost everything, including their home. They now are renting a house. Because their medishare insurance plan (a cooperative) is insufficient, the family is having to pay a larger than average share of the medical bills, which includes $4,000 a month just for therapies. Current outstanding medical bills are already over $12,000, and they are awaiting bills from Mary Carol’s recent hospital stay, which no doubt will be in the untold thousands of dollars. Friends, I have never met a sweeter family, who desperately needs and deserves our help. The children are believing with their parents for their mother’s full recovery. They all have such positive attitudes in spite of overwhelming challenges and are so appreciative and grateful for every act of compassion and kindness. The GoFundMe goal will help with immediate needs, but ongoing needs will be even greater, so whatever you can contribute—whether great or small, whether one time or on an ongoing basis—will help more than you could ever know.
