On the morning of May 17th, 2017, a tragedy happened to our dear friend Mary. While out on her morning walk, with her and Jim's dog, Bamma, Mary suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. A passer-by saw her on the ground and activated 911. The Elm Grove Paramedics were able to revive Mary and transport her to Froedtert Memorial Hospital. Mary was treated in the Emergency Department and moved to ICU where she is currently recieving care. Her condition is very serious. We will never give up hope.
Mary works at Froedtert and is the fiance of Jim Phillips, FF/Paramedic with the Town of Brookfield Fire Department (IAFF L4724), and Captain with the Elm Grove Fire Department.
We are all praying for Mary as she fights for her life. We are also praying for her family, and our brother Firefighter Jim. We are asking for those prayers to please continue.
The care Mary is recieving is the best care she can recieve. That care however is very expensive. Mary and Jim lead a full yet modest life. The medical bills for post cardiac arrest care are going to be very large.
We all are extremely grief stricken by this and I'm sad to say that her condition has taken a turn for the worse. If the worst were to happen, there will still be a lot of medical bills to be taken care of.
I know that if this were to happen, we will stick together as a family, as thousands of us have in the past. As a group of brothers and sisters, we must plan for all concievable outcomes, no matter how grave.
With that being said, please find it in your heart to help Mary and Jim make it through the most difficult struggle in her life. Any contribution, no matter how small will help her and Jim; and will be greatly appreaciated.
Thank you for your time,
The Town of Brookfield Fire Fighters
