In Memory of Marvin Diaz

For the past several months, Marvin’s friends and family circled around him. We watched movies and awards shows together, we made protein rich smoothies, we snuggled under comfortable blankets, hospital blankets and bathrobes together. We gathered around and ate his mom’s soup and made fun of everyone else in the world.

On Valentine’s Day, Marvin and his boyfriend, Jordan, became engaged to be married and the brightest smile stretched across his handsome face. When his family arrived, he made Jordan do it again, this time on one knee. Immediately, Marvin began thinking about Save the Dates, announcements and, most importantly, what the engagement party would look like.

The family also made several late night trips to the emergency room, not knowing exactly what was causing the pain this time or that time. We made trips to several pharmacies, we waited hours and days for diagnoses, tests results and the next step to get Marvin healthy again. Marvin valiantly endured three sessions of one chemotherapy and one immense session of another to fight the two cancers.

Marvin fought with everything he could draw of his little body.

On February 18, 2016, after so many kisses and hand squeezes and long conversations with and soliloquies by his family to him, and with his dear friend, Rigo, next to him, his friends and family nearby, and in the hands of his Mommy and his fiancée, our beautiful Marvin passed at the age of 26.

Several of Marvin's friends and family have asked what they can do to help. To that end, we have created this GoFundMe to help alleviate the costs of emergency room visits, hospital stays in three hospitals, outpatient care, equipment costs, private memorial costs and sundry costs to the family both during his battle and posthumously.

The family sincerely thanks everyone who has already encased them in love and support during this momentously difficult time.
