Hi, my name is Kristi and when Marvel came into my life he was known as "Brad Pittie" because he was the most beautiful 4 month old Pittie Puppy anyone has ever seen. He was foudn roaming the streets in New York as a stray and no one understood why (if you keep reading further, it'll all add up...) - I couldn't believe my luck when I was chosen out of the hundreds of applications by the shelter to be his FurMom! No one new that he was moving in with a lot of baggage, and a broken heart.
Marvel was diagnosed with heart murmur, and a few cardiology visits later with a severe valvular pulmonic stenosis. When he was 5 month old he got his first surgery called a balloon valvuloplasty. Unfortunately, this was just a bandage on his heart and didn't fix the defect long term. A year later on his annual check-up his wonderful Cardiologist Dr. Sammarco (Head of Cardio in Red Bank - Big shoutout!) decided that another balloon valvuloplasty as a short term fix and putting him through the same procedure again isn't a good option. At this point Marvel went of his Beta-Blockers, a drug that is used to help control the heart rate, and can make Marvel feel tired or lose their appetite, to get a better quality of life, and we were just hoping for the best.
Now another year later on his annual check-up a new option has become available and Dr. Sammarco says he is a good candidate for a pulmonic stent, which can open up the pulmonary artery and reduce the current stenosis. This is finally a LONG TERM SOLUTION, and a possibility to give Marvel the long and happy life he deserves.
Anyone who has met him, knows hes such a happy and active Puppy and he just simply doesn't understand how sick he really is. Please consider helping saving my little boy and giving him the chance he deserves! His surgery is scheduled for 07/12/2023.
So much love, Kristi & Marvel
