Maru-a-Pula Orphan Scholarships
Donation protected
My name is Darren Donaldson.
I am looking for your support in helping to raise funds for the Maru-a-Pula School Orphan and Vulnerable Children's (OVC) Scholarship program in Gaborone, Botswana. I have set this personal challenge with the hope to raise these funds and present them to the school as a gift when I begin a 6-week visit there on June 19, 2017.
In Botswana, one in every five children is an orphan. Africa’s orphans – typically lacking good secondary schooling.
Maru-a-Pula (MaP) provides orphan scholars with full tuition, boarding facilities, books, stationery, pocket money, travel documents, all necessary medical and dental care, all clothing needs including sportswear, and most importantly, committed pastoral care.
Since its inception, MaP has been committed to providing quality education for the students of Botswana. Despite their economic status, MaP has made sure that the deserving students of Botswana are given the opportunity to immerse themselves in an environment that provides academic, physical and emotional enrichment and education.
Each gift to the OVC Scholarship Fund supports the needs of Maru-a-Pula’s orphan scholars.
• $23 provides an orphan with a thesaurus and a dictionary
• $28 covers the cost of an orphan’s visit to a doctor or dentist
• $56 provides an orphan with a term’s pocket money
• $152 provides an orphan with room and board for a week
• $617 provides an orphan with a month’s tuition
• $2444 provides an orphan’s tuition fees for a full term
For more information, I invite you to visit the school's website www.maruapula.org
Please be informed that I have appointed Anne Susan Heywood as the beneficiary to this campaign. Anne will be helping me handle the withdrawls of funds from this campaign in order to ensure they are delivered to Maru-A-Pula School, via a cheque in person, when I begin my teaching assignment there in June, 2017. Anne is a current member of the AFMAP (American Friends of Maru-A-Pula) Board. In addition, Anne is a resident of Tuxedo Park, previously lived in Botswana for 6 years, and taught at one of Maru-A-Pula's feeder schools from 1977 to 1983.
To succeed in reaching the financial goals for supporting this amazing school's Orphan and Vulnerable children's scholarship program, I need your help! ANY amount, including the smallest of donations, will truly be appreciated.
Thank you ALL for your support!
