Marty’s Final Summer: A Family Tradition

Some may already know, others may be informed after reading this. Marty, our Father, had a pretty extensive stroke back in December 2024. This onset dementia and began the road in which we didn't expect to travel so quickly. We have been working very hard to take care of Marty, as well as keep him at home instead of placing him in a facility, as he wishes.

After 3 long stays in the VA since December 2024, we have come to a place where they have had him on maximum treatment for every condition/diagnosis Marty has and he is still having strokes pretty much daily. Marty is currently admitted at the VA for the 3rd time this year. All 3 stays being 2 to 4 weeks long, so he has pretty much spent the year in the hospital.

In April and May I worked extremely hard to move our family of 7 into a house big enough to house us and Dad with enough space and resources for Dad's Doctor appointments, so we moved from our peaceful cow field and a block back to the city recently.

As happy as that sounds, Dad's team of Doctors, Phycologists, Social Workers, Nurses and anyone involved in his care have come to a conclusion that he needs to come home on Hospice this round. This has brought me to the bucket list.

Our goal is to bring him home June 23 ad start the bucket list for Pops. We are looking to raise as much as we can to make this possible for him because we just had an extensive/expensive move that makes it a little hard to set things in stone.

Bucket List:

Races in Julesburg one last time July 4 through July 6. A family tradition.

Camping 3 days in Leadville for the last time. A family tradition.

ZZ Top August 4th Red Rocks, one last show.

A Barbecue for Celebration of Life with Dad Attending in Greeley.

If we can raise the money to make it possible for the Lewis Clan to do one last round for the summer before we get Dad comfortable on Hospice so he can go Home to Tema, Mimi, Grandpi, Geoff, Louie, Farley, Stevie, Larry, and everyone else who has made their way home whom pops would be at peace to be with again.

Anything helps, I would like to also mention, my kids and I are willing to do cleaning jobs, yard work, etc to make funds to make this possible as well. Just reach out if you need any help. God Bless and thank you everyone for taking the time to read, donate, or share this post. Much love.
