Marty Mimmack has come a long way in the 50 years since he served as the 1970 March of Dimes National Poster Child. His 7+ years of service to the Foundation included 5 short documentary movies, travel promoting 20-mile walk-a-thons and the marquee of being the only 3-time National March of Dimes Ambassador. As an adult, Marty earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Cal Poly SLO and went on to a career in teaching and public speaking.
Marty has maintained a good quality of life by supplementing his assistance income with employment as an instructor with Cuesta College. Before the
Covid-19 shutdown he regularly provided classes to the elderly. In recent years, and especially now during these terribly trying times, Marty is struggling to make it financially. To insure his independent lifestyle it is necessary for him to maintain his adaptive vehicle and pay for more and more frequent assistance in his home. He is also faced with some upcoming and ongoing Medical and Dental expenses.

Without help Marty is faced with real possibility of going into a care facility at tremendous social and emotional cost as well as his loss of freedom.
