Help Marty & Lisa Crisp

Hi my name is Danyale Crisp and I'm raising funds to help some people who are very special to me. On September 11th 2022 my father-in-law was in a motorcycle accident that forever changed his life. He was life flighted right from the highway to Des Moines he had several injuries broken ribs shattered collarbone punctured lung to name a few but the worst injury was a severe spinal cord injury he spent several hours in surgery while they fused his spine together to try and prevent any more damage. By time surgery was finished he had lost all sensations from the chest down. He spent approximately 2 months in the intensive care unit at Mercy Des Moines with Multiple injuries and constant issues when he was finally able to leave the ICU he was transported to a rehabilitation center in Nebraska that specializes in spinal cord injuries, he spent approximately another 2 months doing as much intensive rehab as he could to try and be able to live with his traumatic injury when he was finally able to come home we had to rent a wheelchair lift van to get him home. The reason I am asking for donations is one, so we can get a wheelchair lift Van to take him places cause as of right now he cannot leave the house unless it is close enough he can drive his wheelchair to like the Casey's 2 blocks away for example. He has pretty much been stuck at home and I personally think that sucks with our lovely Iowa weather he can't get outside much right now either. The other reason I am asking for help is to get enough to help my mother in law and father-in-law remodel their bathroom to accommodate this new life we are all learning to live with and help out. As of right now their bathroom is too small for his wheelchair to access, and they do not have a handicapped shower either. In order for Marty to be able to take an ACTUAL shower they will need a roll in shower so they can get him safely rolled into the shower as he can only use his arms with no feeling from the chest down. Since he has been home we have made several changes to their home to accommodate this new life. We had to rip out all the carpet in the living room and their bedroom so he can maneuver his chair without too many issues Only problem is now we are just left with what was under the carpet for flooring which isn't very pretty But that's OK we just don't have funds for it right now Anything we have done we have done it ourselves with no extra costs my father-in-law hasn't gotten to take a real shower since he came home and I feel that's a s***** deal. So He's stuck in a wheelchair after being able to walk his entire life and can't even get a decent shower. It may not seem like a big deal to some people but think about it it can really get to a person having all these changes and probably feeling so helpless and not being able to do the things you have done your entire life. Please if you can help in any way we would truly appreciate it. If you aren't in a position to donate, please share share share. I'm hoping to get at least enough for the 2 simple things that are very much needed. I want to see my father-in-law smile again and make sure he knows how much we love him and are so grateful that that accident did not take his life our family has been through more heart ache than any one should ever have to endure, We lost Lisa and Marty's youngest son to a motor vehicle accident in 2015 and 3 years later also lost their oldest daughter to another motor vehicle accident that was caused by a criminal who had just robbed someone and was trying to get away. Life is never fair but this family has been through more traumatic sudden events than needed so let's make at least one thing a little easier for them by getting funds for a Van and bathroom remodel. They are such good loving people. from the day I met them they have always welcomed me into their family and treated me as such.
