Hi, my name is Brianna. I created this fund raiser for my Dad’s medical bills. My Dad is currently in the ICU, intubated and on a lot of medications. He has been fighting for some time. This all started with your average Flu that compromised his immune system. He contracted Cellulitis on his chest, which turned into Streptococcus pyogenes . The infection spread to his blood stream, caused Toxic shock syndrome , and sent him into septic shock . the day we decided to bring him to the hospital in our small home town in downeast maine, he struggled to get off the couch and walk to the door. That’s when we knew something was very wrong. At the small hospital they determined that his kidneys and liver were failing. They transferred him to a large hospital about an hour away from home, where he was immediately intubated and sedated. The doctor told us if he had gotten here just 10 minutes later he would no longer be with us. He is on the road to recovery very slowly, receiving dialysis often as his kidneys are still not functioning to the full extent they’re intended to, he is still on a lot of IV’s and on a ventilator. The main reason I have created this fund raiser is the copay we are expecting after he is out of the hospital and back home with us. We have great insurance through my Mom’s work, but we are unsure of what’s in store for us in the other side. My dad is the primary earner for our family as he is a plumber and we are now staying in a hotel close to the hospital and eating out for meals and all the costs are adding up. My Mom is a dialysis nurse at the hospital he’s staying in, but she is on work comp with a full tear through her rotator cuff, awaiting surgery. Anything is appreciated. Thank you! -the Hesters
