My name is Marty Jackson and I have just been selected to represent Australia in Para Ice Hockey!!!
I have been involved in sport all my life. As many of you know, I was injured in 2014, while playing American Football (Gridiron) which suddenly changed the direction my life journey would travel.
Since then, I have committed myself to living life to the absolute fullest and sport has played a major part in that.
Shortly after my injury, which caused a loss of motor and sensory function of my lower leg and sensory ataxia, I took up athletics where I have had incredible successful in Shot Put.
In brief, here are some of my achievements over the last few years:
- A Gold Medal at the Oceania Melanesian Championships and team
Captaincy in 2016.
- A 4th place at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in
London.
- Won the Silver Medal at the recent 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth
Games
There is still plenty more to come in my Athletics career, but more on that later...
Over the last 9 months I have been involved in Para Ice Hockey.
It has been amazing to be back in the team environment and I have enjoyed working hard to improve my on-ice skills and fitness.
After a series of selection trials, I am so incredibly excited to announce that I have been selected in the inaugural Australian Para Ice Hockey team.
This selection is a tremendous honour and it is a privilege to be a part of what is set to be a major point in history for the sport in Australia.
The team will compete in Europe (exact European location is to be confirmed by the IPC and World Para Ice Hockey) this November at the International Paralympic Committee’s World Para Ice Hockey World Championships (Pool C).
Here is a link to show you exactly what “Para Ice Hockey” is from this year’s 2018 Pyeong Chang Paralympic games.

The Australian Paralympic Committee’s aim is to have my team work towards qualifying for the 2022 Beijing Paralympic games.
This has all come around so quickly, so I have decided to reach out through social media and via a Go Fund Me page.
This trip to the World Championships in Europe is self-funded, in total my player team fees are $3900 which covers airfares, accommodation, tournament rego and uniform.
With your help I can make this a reality!
Any donations big or small would be extremely appreciated, I would also be extremely appreciative if you could take the time to share this page amongst your friends and contacts via social media.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and a big massive thank you for any donations and shares, looking forward to being able to share some amazing stories and pics from “The World Para Ice Hockey World Championship” dressed in the Green and Gold.
