Mart’s Medical Bills and Expenses

Hi, my name is Laura Stephens and I am fundraising for my dad, Glenn “Mart” Koontz. My dad has been diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease for 27 years. His kidneys are now barely functioning and he is considered to be in end stage kidney failure. Luckily, he has a living donor he has matched with. February 16th he will undergo surgery to remove a kidney. 6 to 8 weeks later he will have a second surgery to do the actual kidney transplant. Even with insurance and all the supplemental insurance my parents could sign up for this will be a very expensive time for them. The surgeries will be conducted in Charlotte, NC which is hours away from their home. Dad’s first surgery will entail at least a one week hospital stay. With his second surgery he will be staying in the Charlotte area for at least a month. The funds raised will go towards lodging for him and my mom near the hospital, food and other expenses while staying in Charlotte, and to pay to board their dog for such a long time. The surgeries will cost around half a million dollars. Our family greatly appreciates all the prayers and support during this time. Thank you!
