Hi, my name is Martin and I'm a trans man living in the UK. I am raising money for my top surgery.

I have identified as trans since 2015 and have been on testosterone since 2020. Being unable to get top surgery has been a major weight on my mind for over a decade. It has been a long time coming and I no longer want to put my life on hold waiting for the right moment.

The mental discomfort from the dysphoria it causes and the physical discomfort and pain from chest binding has seriously impacted my daily life for many years.

I have been working overtime in a factory and living with unsupportive family for over a year just to save up for this. It has helped, but I still have not been able to save enough.

I feel embarassed to have to ask so publicly for money but I don't know how else I am going to afford this. I am about to move in to a new place together with my partner and I have been losing sleep worrying about paying for this surgery.

My country's trans healthcare system has been deliberately left to break down by the government. Top surgery is meant to be offered for free on the NHS but my wait time for top surgery will be an average of 10 years. Because of this I am forced to pursue costly private medical care, which unfortunately has become standard for trans people here. I am already funding my own testosterone treatment.

I would be very grateful for your support and any money raised is going to help me finally move on with my life.

I have already had a consultation with a private surgeon and plan to have my top surgery in autumn of this year.
