My sweet baby Martin has to get his eye removed ASAP due to end stage glaucoma. His right eye started looking funny about a week ago, and after two vet visits and some medications, it didn’t seem to be improving. On 4/11/2025 his eye looked much more cloudy, so I took him to the emergency vet. They ran some ophthalmologic tests and told me he has end stage glaucoma. They’re not sure what caused it, as it’s unusual for a cat his age to have it. They recommended removing his eye altogether to avoid pressure build up and pain. In addition, his other eye has entropion (a rolled eyelid) which they will correct during the same surgery. He is FIV positive and since his case is a little more complex, the surgery needs to be performed by an ophthalmologist rather than our regular vet.
If you know me, you know Martin is the absolute light of my life. I am devastated to learn that he is in pain. I am doing everything I can to make him comfortable until he can undergo the surgery.
BluePearl Hospital can perform the surgery on 4/16/2025 but it is very expensive for me as a graduate student. I know everyone says it, but anything helps. If you’re not able to donate, please share. Thank you!
