Dad's Fund to Fight Leukemia
Donation protected
Thank you for taking a moment to learn a little bit about the recent battle our dad has been fighting.
Our dad, Martin, was diagnosed with Leukemia on Sept. 4th 2015. Simply defined, Leukemia, is a cancer of your body's blood forming tissue or bone marrow where the white blood cells are affected most often. White blood cells fight infection for us. When you have leukemia, those cells are produced by your bone marrow in an abnormal form, hence they no longer fight infection.
To date, Our dad,Martin has received 2 kinds of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, both have failed and his doctor in El Paso, Texas can not longer treat him. He has been referred to MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center in Houston, which is a 10 hour drive from our home.
In addition to receiving a stem cell transplant (aka bone marrow transplant), in Houston, my dad will also partake in a clinical trial chemotherapy treatment which has a 10% chance of putting him in remission.
Since this diagnosis in Sept., we've spent countless nights at the hospital and we plan on staying as many more nights as it takes to get my dad cleared of this horrible cancer. We've set up this fund to help my dad with hospital bills, and travel and lodging expenses in Houston. Any contribution you can spare is appreciated more than you will ever know! Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers!
