Our dad, Marty Burgoon is the type of man to give you the shirt off of his back. Often going with less so others can have more and that's just the way he is. He is a devoted Christian and is always working hard to provide for his family.

Last year, after suffering from excruciating pain for over a week, our father checked himself into the ER. He was examined and told he has a severe Hernia. To take care of a Hernia is a simple surgical procedure, but they would need to do some tests to ensure that he is healthy enough to recover from the operation. He was scheduled for surgery until his blood results came back, the doctor explained he could not be operated on until his blood count gets better.  They put him on a string of numerous expensive medications to increase his blood count. Throughout this process my dad could not work or provide any income for his family. Our Father is self employed, and his business solely depends on his hard work. The doctor instructed him that he was not able to lift more than 5 pounds, which makes it impossible for him to do any work.

With all that being said he has not been able to do a full work week in a couple of months. Only make money by doing small jobs here and there. It has not been easy for him to make money for bills, let alone all these new additional hospital bills that keep adding up. Marty does not have any form of insurance to help reduce the hospital visits or his prescriptions. He has tried every government funded insurance and due to his existing health problems it is not looking good. He applied for the "cheap Obama Care" and was granted it at the low price of $400 a month just for himself. Obama care is an unaffordable solution. Without him being able to afford the prescriptions he can not get his blood count up which causes a crumbling affect that leads to him having to live everyday in severe pain due to a serious Hernia.

A month after being diagnosed, my family got together to work a tree job to help my father make money. On the job our father got really sick and had to rush to the hospital. Due to the Hernia something ruptured and caused him to internally bleed. This put Marty in intensive care for a week and a half and he had to have SEVEN blood transfusions in the first night. The doctors could not find the cause for the bleeding and things were not looking good. This one little rupture almost cost our father his life, and I for one am not ready to lose my dad and I don't believe the world is ready yet either.

To anyone who has crossed paths with our father, you know that he is a one of a kind man, and wouldn't think twice about helping anyone else in need. He does not know we have started this fund and we as a family want nothing more to be able to take care of our father but it is not financially easy. We are asking for what ever little help you can provide.  As his children, we appreciate anything that you can spare, nothing is too big or small and we promise to pay it forward.

God bless and thank you all.
