Martin's Graduation and House Warming

Donation protected
Hi,

It’s finally happened! Despite the challenges I have faced as an African American male in a predominately white institution, I have graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell College with a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minor in Psychology. Thank you to everyone who has supported me through my college experience. These past four years have been full of incredible opportunities, none of which I would have been able to take advantage of without the love and encouragement from friends and family.

During my undergraduate career I started my own my organization, whose impact will far at last my time on campus; I completed a premed fellowship in Portugal – shadowing physicians in specialties such as ophthalmology, dermatology, internal medicine, pneumology, and orthopedic surgery; I conducted coral conservation research in the Caribbean; I was one of the foremost leaders on campus as a member of the Student Senate Executive Board for nearly the entirety of my college career; finally, I conducted research internships at some of the most competitive and elite research institutions in US such as the University of Iowa (University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics), Princeton University (Princeton Neuroscience Institute) and Yale University (Yale School of Medicine).

These accomplishments were made possible through the support of all the fantastic people in my life, and have allowed me to begin my next stage in life as a Postgraduate Research Associate at the Yale School of Medicine in the departments of Genetics and Neuroscience where I will be investigating the role of non-coding RNA in axon regeneration! During my next two years at Yale University, I will also receive much needed mentorship that will enable me to matriculate in MD-PhD programs, where I plan to obtain a PhD in cellular in molecular neuroscience while simultaneously attending medical school.

Unfortunately, moving onto my next step as a Research Assistant at Yale University in July has proven to be challenging and very expensive, so I am once again asking for the support of all the amazing people in my life. Any assistance you can give to help me with relocation costs to New Haven would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, to get into MD-PhD programs, I must take the MCAT. However, MCAT prep and study materials are costly. I would be so grateful for any support that you can give! Every donation will help me overcome my obstacles and take me one step closer to my future. Thank you all so very much for your help!

Best,

Martin Rosenfeld
