Martin Wanire funeral fund
Donation protected
Last week I (Shane) was sadly informed about the death of one of our Kokoda track guides.
We are currently not operating treks during the wet season and I haven't seen the crew since November 2019.
Martin Wanire died suddenly from tuberculous and septicemia.
Martin is a native of Sogeri, the Southern end of the Kokoda Trail, Papua New Guinea.
Martin has worked for me and Escape Trekking Adventures for several years along the Kokoda Trail sharing the combined history of not only the Australian armed services but that of the Papuan people. Martin represented his country, family and our business to the highest standard.
Life is a struggle in Papua New Guinea, and the medical system is far from what we know here in Australia and other developed nations. Martin had suffered from swollen glands and unknown illness on and off for a few years.
Nothing prepares you for times like this. Martin made up a large part of our teams' universe. Martin was not only Escape Trekking Adventures safety guide but mates to our team members and loved by our clients.
Martin was admired his by his Mum, Dad, Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Martin was a good friend to many and loved by all.
Everything has now changed forever without you brother.
We are passing the hat around for Martin's funeral. We would love for your support in the sad times at Escape Trekking Adventures and in Papua New Guinea.
Rest in eternal peace
Truly saddened,
Shane Goodwin
