Martín Pallauta Pino “Will keep fighting for his life with your help"

 

 

Our little Martin, at birth, suffered from severe neonatal apnea (lack of oxygen that caused brain damage), followed by seizures, PMLD (Psychomotor and Language Delay), and swallowing disorder. Instead of sleeping on his cradle, he has been at different hospitals during his short life undergoing multiple treatments, surgeries, frequent medical examinations, and medical check-ups for more than three times a week. Five months ago, Martin underwent a surgery to treat gastroesophageal reflux (Nissen Fundoplication) and a tube was connected to his stomach so that he can be fed (Gastrostomy).

 

We are Violeta and Benjamin, the parents of Martin Ignacio, a young Colombo-Chilean family residing in Santiago de Chile. We have two beautiful children, Paulina who is three and a half years old, and Martín, a beautiful baby who was born on June 16, 2021.

 

We initiated this campaign since the health system in Chile has limited coverage. Medical expenses that are out of pocket are accumulating beyond our financial capacity, currently to the equivalent of $42,000 dollars as of May 2022. These are expenses that we cannot afford with Benjamín's income; His current income is not even enough to pay for medications, supplies, feeding pumps, monthly consultations with neurologists, pediatric gastroenterologists, therapies, nor transportation.

 

We want to continue fighting for a better quality of life for Martín, who has been a powerful spirit despite the challenges. But we will not be able to provide for our baby and our family while we are in debt from medical costs that are beyond our control. Our goal is to raise $65,000, which will allow to cover the debts we currently have with three hospitals for $42,000 dollars and to cover for the long-term rehabilitation that our son requires for at least the next 12 months.

 

Because GoFundMe only accepts contributions in the United States. Our friends Julio Zapata and his wife, Luz Anyela, have generously opened a bank account in the United States that will be dedicated exclusively to collecting donations. All donations will be transferred to our personal account (The account we have in Chile: 00-169-42203-08 “Banco de Chile”) to cover all of Martin's medical expenses. They will not receive any financial compensation for helping us in this noble cause.

Nuestro pequeño Martín, al momento de nacer, sufrió de asfixia neonatal severa (falta de oxígeno que le causó daño cerebral), a la cual le prosiguió epilepsia, RDSM (Retraso en el desarrollo psicomotor) y trastorno de deglución. En lugar de dormir en su cuna, ha tenido que estar en diferentes clínicas durante su corta vida sometido a múltiples tratamientos, cirugías, exámenes frecuentes y controles médicos más de tres veces por semana. Hace cinco meses, Martín fue sometido a una cirugía para tratar el reflujo gastroesofágico (Funduplicatura de Nissen) y se le conectó una sonda al estómago para que pueda ser alimentado (Gastrostomía).

 

Somos los padres de Martin Ignacio; Violeta y Benjamín. Una joven familia Colombo-Chilena residente en Santiago de Chile, tenemos dos preciosos hijos, Paulina de tres años y medio, y Martín, un hermoso bebé quien nació el 16 de junio de 2021.

 

Hemos creado esta campaña porque el sistema de salud en Chile tiene una cobertura limitada. Los gastos médicos que están fuera de esta cobertura se están acumulando en niveles elevados, el equivalente a $42.000 dólares hasta Mayo de 2022. Son gastos que no podemos saldar con los ingresos de Benjamín; tampoco nos alcanza para pagar medicamentos, insumos, bombas de alimentación, consultas mensuales con los médicos neurólogos, gastroenterólogos pediatras, terapias, ni transporte.

 

Queremos seguir luchando por una mejor calidad de vida para Martín, quien ha sido un poderoso espíritu a pesar de los desafíos. Pero no podremos proveer para nuestros hijos y nuestra familia mientras tengamos deudas por los altos costos médicos que están fuera de nuestro control. Nuestra meta es recaudar $65.000, con los cuales podremos cancelar las deudas que actualmente tenemos con tres clínicas por el valor de $ 42.000 dólares y pagar la rehabilitación de largo plazo que requiere nuestro hijo por lo menos en los próximos 12 meses.

 

Debido a que GoFundMe solo recibe aportes en Estados Unidos.
