Martin Nekola´s lecture and research tour

Martin Nekola, Ph.D. from Prague, Czech Republic is a distinguished historian focused on the history of the Czech communities in the USA. He has been doing research in American archives, libraries and museums for many years, he has interviewed dozens of Czech-Americans and written dozens of articles and papers on this topic. He is the author of twenty-two publications, among them the book about the Czechs in Chicago (2017), Czech-American Congressman Adolph J. Sabath (2020) and the Czechs in New York (2021). He appeared in the documentary movie „Czechs in Chicago: A Home in the Heartland“ (2022), coordinates the project the Czechoslovak Talks (www.czechoslovaktalks.com/en; facebook.com/czechoslovaktalks), collecting inspiring life stories of the Czechs abroad and he is involved in many research projects focused on Czechs in America and Czech-American relations. Usually, twice a year, he comes to the USA to carry on his research and to give lectures at various universities.

Next, he would like to come in October 2022 for the whole month to do research in New York, Connecticut, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and New Mexico, where undiscovered archival collections are to be found. Martin is an independent scholar seeking help with his travel and accommodation expenses during his American trip. His expected costs will be $ 2000. After the end of the trip, a detailed research report will be submitted.
