Martin Luther King Jr. Monument Site Enhancement

The Martin Luther King Jr. Monument Enhancement on Main Street in Downtown Riverside has begun!

Join the Riverside African American Historical Society in raising funds to complete the enhancement and provide ongoing maintenance to the site.

The project's total cost will be $476,962.33, which will include completely new landscaping and benches for people to sit and reflect on the words of Dr. King, whose great vision of unity we hope to continue.

We are building five (5) podiums to feature donor names and quotes from Dr. King, which will be sponsored at a cost of $10,000.00 each and new pavers that will encircle the statue and surrounding area. The existing pavers with names/family names will be upgraded and new ones will be engraved for each donation of $1,000.00 or more. One name/family name per $1,000 donation will be included in the new area.

This project has become a reality due to the generosity of donors like yourself and Sen. Richard Roth. By providing a grant, Senator Roth enabled us to begin the enhancement. Although these funds have been obtained, we are still short of our goal amount to complete the enhancement.
