Raising funds to help Martin begin anew after losing everything in a house fire.
After a wonderful week long GCBO birding trip to Oregon and extended trip to bird along the coast of Washington, Martin received a call from the landlord that you never want or expect to here, his house had been involved in a fire that began next door in the neighbors garage. Three houses were burned to the ground, including Martin’s, and a couple others damaged. Our beautiful, green bayou birding house that had become a home, and everything in it is literally gone, only a partial shell left standing. Martin lost everything, irreplaceable Swedish family heirlooms he had from his mom, dad, granddad and grandmother and aunts, personal and medical documents, his entire library of birding books and everything he has collected or been given since he was very young, his spotting scope is gone, furniture, clothes, laptop, irreplaceable artwork, his cherished granddad’s tools, all of his personal tools, just everything. While thankful for his life, that Bailey is safe at the pet sitter and has her favorite toy duck, and his truck is safe at the airport… he is in complete shock, and as you can imagine is trying to process losing his entire life’s and family belongings. Right now, it’s about the practical things first, trying to replace personal documents, medications, canceling utilities, etc… looking for a new home to rent, he has a place to stay, but then will need everything to live once a house is found. Martin called the insurance company and filed a claim, but renters insurance won’t cover everything that needs to be replaced.
I’m helping as much as I can, but I’m asking for your love and support too. If you can financially help in any way it is more than appreciated. We are his family and family takes care of family. Your words of encouragement and support are very appreciated by me, Martin and Bailey, and prayers for guidance, strength and hope to get through this. Please know that right now everything is overwhelming and it may take him a while to respond to messages, emails, etc. but he cares very much and will when he’s able. Your care and support are very appreciated during this time.
