Hi. My name is Manny Rosas and I'm fund raising for a very close friend and co-worker who was recently diagnosed with colon and liver cancer (stage 4).
Martin Loaiza is a 54-year-old married man with an 18-year son in college studying mechanical engineering. Martin lives in San Diego and is the sole wage earner for his family. He works in property maintenance for a construction contractor in San Diego. We call Martin "Mr. Fix-It" because he can fix anything. I've worked with Martin for 16 years and he is extremely hard-working, humble, generous and one of the kindest human beings I’ve ever known. In addition, he has an amazing sense of humor and a wonderful spirit.
A large mass was discovered in Martin’s colon on March 30, 2023. His colon is now non-functioning and inoperable. The MRI also showed a large mass in his liver that has spread (Stage 4). This type of cancer is inoperable and can only be treated with chemotherapy. His first phase of chemo will last 6 months. The doctors at UCSD Medical Center have been very kind and sympathetic to Martin and his family. They will need to take a very aggressive approach to his chemotherapy treatment due to the nature of his cancer.
This devastating diagnosis has consumed Martin's family with grief and despair. They are still in a state of shock and trying to cope with this new reality but they are slowly coming to terms with his medical condition and life expectancy.
Martin is not able to work since his job requires physical labor. He is a very proud man and will not ask for any financial assistance. In reality, they will soon go through their small savings and will have nothing left. I am fundraising to help pay for his medical bills, rent and food. Anything you can give will help tremendously.
I thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity. God Bless.
