Martin Boe Battling Bile Duct Cancer
Our dear friend and co-worker, Martin Boe, is facing the battle of his life. He has been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer. He also has a cancerous mass on one of his kidneys.
Here is his story. 2019 started out well for Martin and Rochelle. She was 6 months into a new job as a school bus driver and really enjoying the work. They were discussing plans to buy property or a home, eventually settling on the idea of putting up a Tiny Home. Martin was his usual self…..loving life and spreading happiness everywhere he roamed. Each morning, as he made his rounds at the Center, he’d throw out greetings in the form of funny sounds, jokes, wisecracks, nicknames, song lyrics, and even an occasional hug. He made everyone feel special and brought smiles to everyone he encountered. He listened to requests and either fixed the problem that day or came in early the next day to address whatever needed to be done. You name it, he would take care of it.
Now he is the one who could use a little help from us. Currently, he is in week 3 of a 9 week session of chemotherapy. He has not been able to work since Sept. 20th. He has endured countless scans, procedures and doctor visits, made multiple trips to the ER, and spent a week in the hospital with pancreatitis. The proceeds of this GoFundMe Campaign will help to cover medical expenses and the loss of income for Martin and Rochelle as they navigate this difficult journey.
We are all looking forward to Martin’s return and to hearing his signature sign off…... “Love you, Bye” as he passes us in the hallway or finishes a phone call.
