In October of 2013, the Wofford College community lost a dear friend in Martha Cammack '13.
With a personality as quirky and bright as her red hair, Martha fully immersed herself in life on campus as a Wofford student. A proud sister of Kappa Alpha Theta, an active member of RUF and Wofford Ambassadors, as well as a dedicated library student worker, Martha was a familiar face to students, faculty and staff across campus.
Martha was an Environmental Studies major and lover of all things outdoors, which makes Martha's Garden the perfect space to honor this special Wofford alumna. It will be a place for all Wofford students, staff, families, and friends to use and gather in community together. Located in the grassy area next to Lesesne Hall across from the Pavilion, this space will truly encompass the beauty of Wofford's campus and serve as a location for creative, academic and social activities of all sorts. Martha’s Garden will be just one small part of the wide-reaching, unforgettable legacy of this beloved member of the Wofford family.
After many months of planning and working with the wonderful, supportive administration of Wofford College, we are ecstatic to finally have the opportunity to make this project public. President Samhat and other key members of Wofford's administration have given us permission to begin fundraising for this project, and we are looking to those who loved Martha to help us make our vision of Martha's Garden a reality.
We want Martha's Garden to be a tribute to Martha at one of her favorite places, but we also want it to serve as a sort of gift to Martha's family. Any contribution, large or small, is appreciated. When you make your gift, we encourage you to leave a message with a funny story about Martha or something you loved about her, so that her family may see just how much of an impact she had. Though we are using GoFundMe as a fundraising vehicle, all contributions will be processed as a gift to Wofford College.
