Marta's immigration fees

Hello,

My name is Bertine and I'm fundraising for Martha in her quest to become a legal permanent resident of the United States of America. As an immigrant myself I know that the most significant barriers to attaining a green card are the application fees and attorneys' fees. Martha has been in this country for almost 30 years. She has been an excellent, hard-working, contributing member of our society. In all that time she has been paying taxes dutifully. Martha has three U.S. born children. One in college, one in high school and the youngest in elementary school. She hasn't been able to visit her relatives in Mexico since she moved here with her mother at the age of 17. Martha can not travel outside of the United States for fear that she would not be able to return home to her children. She has spent all her savings to begin the application process towards becoming a permanent U.S. resident. The cost far exceeds what she can afford to pay on her income as a housekeeper.
