Hi, as some of you may know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in February this year. It was invasive ductal carcinoma, stage 2. This was a shock to all of us but she has maintained her faith and strength through it all. We are so thankful for everyone’s prayers, messages and thoughts. It really means a lot to her and even though she may not respond to most messages, she eventually sees them all.

She underwent a procedure to place a port and then started chemotherapy right away since the tumor was significantly bigger than the doctors imagined and she couldn’t get surgery first. She has completed 3 chemos already, and unfortunately each treatment seems to make her symptoms worse and they last significantly longer.

Her plan initially was to only take a couple of days off of work and then continue working normally, but this last chemo really made her feel bad and she experienced the most symptoms this time around. She could barely even get around the house by herself. She was unable to work for almost 2 weeks and even went to the hospital twice because she fainted.

Everything has gone up in prices everywhere and only buying healthy and organic food is definitely another financial struggle. My brother, Steven, and I help as much as we can. She has had multiple biopsies, MRI’s, ultrasounds, mammograms, and so many doctor’s appointment and obviously the insurance didn’t cover all those expenses. Over the summer she will undergo a double mastectomy with a reconstruction and hopefully it will only be one surgery but it can be 2 or 3 different surgeries. Each surgery she will be expected to be out of work for at least a month to fully recover.

The doctors are very optimistic that although this will be a very tough year, she WILL recover and be cancer free at the end of the year and god willing the rest of her life! If you can find it in your heart to donate any amount, I know she will be eternally grateful not to have a financial burden while she is trying to beat cancer. Thank you so much.

Hola, como algunos de ustedes saben, mi mamá fue diagnosticada con cáncer de mama en febrero de este año. Fue carcinoma ductal invasivo, etapa 2. Esto fue un shock para todos nosotros, pero ella ha mantenido su fe y fortaleza a través de todo esto. Estamos muy agradecidos por las oraciones, mensajes y pensamientos de todos. Realmente significa mucho para ella y aunque puede que no responda a la mayoría de los mensajes, eventualmente los ve todos.

Se sometió a un procedimiento para colocar un puerto y luego comenzó la quimioterapia de inmediato ya que el tumor era significativamente más grande de lo que los médicos imaginaban y no podía someterse a cirugía primero. Ya ha completado 3 quimioterapias, y desafortunadamente cada tratamiento parece empeorar sus síntomas y duran más tiempo.

Su plan inicialmente era solo tomar un par de días libres del trabajo y luego seguir trabajando normalmente, pero esta última quimio realmente la hizo sentir mal y los síntomas más graves esta vez. Era muy difícil camina por la casa sola. No pudo trabajar durante casi 2 semanas e incluso fue al hospital dos veces porque se desmayó.

Todo ha aumentado de precio en todas partes y solo comprar alimentos saludables y orgánicos es definitivamente otra lucha financiera. Mi hermano, Steven, y yo tratamos de ayudarla con lo que podemos. Ha tenido múltiples biopsias, resonancias magnéticas, ultrasonidos, mamografías y tantas citas médicas y obviamente el seguro no cubrió todos esos gastos. Durante el verano se someterá a una mastectomía doble con reconstrucción y esperemos que sea solo una cirugía, pero pueden ser 2 o 3 cirugías diferentes. Se espera que esté fuera del trabajo durante al menos un mes para recuperarse completamente después de cada cirugía.

Los médicos son muy optimistas de que aunque este será un año muy duro, ¡ella se recuperará y estará libre de cáncer al final del año y con la voluntad de Dios el resto de su vida! Si puedes encontrarlo en tu corazón de donar cualquier cantidad, sé que ella estará eternamente agradecida de no tener una carga financiera mientras intenta vencer al cáncer. Muchas gracias.
