Martha's Fresh Start
Donation protected
Thank you so much for reaching out with your concern and helping offers after the fire at White Oaks. As you can imagine, it all feels very surreal and it's been a whirlwind couple of days. We appreciate you giving us some time to figure out the logistics, but we're ready to help Martha get going. We haven't been able to go into the apartment or see her car just yet, but it looks as if she's lost everything in the fire.
Many of you have offered items from your own lives and we are very grateful for that. I think the best way to offer up anything previously owned and not new would be to send some photos of what you have (and maybe measurements) and Martha can decide if it's right for her. Otherwise, we're going to ask you to contribute whatever you can via GoFundMe so she can rebuild her life as she sees fit.
As of now, she's moving into a one-bedroom in the Porticos so she'll need less furniture than she needed in the two-bedroom at White Oaks. I chose an arbitrary $10,000 as a goal, but any amount will help. She's got clothes, toiletries, an iPhone and a laptop to get her through this next week at the Chalet hotel.
I think we can all agree that Martha has helped us in some capacity over the years, and it's time for us to give back to her. She admittedly has a hard time accepting help and gifts, but we told her it's time to accept it. We are going to get her back on her feet!
My number is (414) [phone redacted] and my brother Kevin's number is (414) [phone redacted]. Feel free to contact either of us at any time via phone or text.
Martha is in good spirits and believes God gave her this challenge because she can handle it. But, let's help her get through it together.
With Love,
Sandy & Kevin Reitman
