Martha Palma's Funeral Fund

Martha Palma was born on November 29th, 1919 in El Salvador. She had kids and eventually moved to Toronto, where she lived in the joys of her ever-growing family and friends. She was a mother, she was a grandmother, she was a great-grandmother, she was a sister, she was an aunt; but more so, she was at the heart of the Palma family and she will be missed dearly by all those who knew her.

As a strong, religious woman, Martha's wishes were to be buried, as Catholics believe in the resurrection of the body following death. They follow the custom of burying the dead, just as Jesus Christ was. As such, she will be buried here in the city, at St. James Cemetery on Wednesday December 20th.

As many family members and friends have expressed wishes to help in one way or another, we have created this trust fund to organize the support of her final resting place, as she would have wanted it. Costs include the casket itself, the burial site; which will later be able to accommodate two caskets and four urns for our family, the funeral services; including the visitation, the embalmment, transportation and the service itself.

We ask that you donate generously and to ask those closest to you to do the same, with the understanding that the total cost estimates are now approaching $25,000

Thank you in advance for your kind wishes and for your generosity at this difficult time

Sincerely,

The Palma Familt

notes: gofundme will be holding our campaign money until we provide them with more information about the campaign details. Then it will decide whether to release the money we have raised for her funeral. Please find below, answers to the specific questions they have asked:

1. Who you are - my name is Ian Hanecak, son of Elena Hanecak
2. Where you're from -I’m from Toronto
3. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for - Martha Palma is my grandmother, she is my mom’s mom and I lived with her for 20 years prior to her passing
4. How the funds will be used (be specific as possible) -  the money is being raised to pay for her funeral costs. Which totaled nearly $18,000. This has included the burial site and excavating ($9,997) as well as the casket ($1,057) and the funeral visitation and service ($6,217)
Funds will be used to proportionally reimburse the four parties (her four children: Ana Palma, Claudia Palma, Elena Hanecak & Robert Palma) who each split the up front costs of the funeral, this happened over two weeks ago
If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf - they are my aunts and uncles, so if gofundme decides to release the money we have raised together, I have made arrangements with each recipient to either transfer the money directly to their account, pay them by check or in cash
