Update 3/15: Marshall crossed the rainbow bridge with his favorite humans by his side.
Hello! My name is Jordan Heng and I am organizing this on behalf of Liz and Zach Hamm and their sweet, sick pup, Marshall. Below is the background info, and Liz has been posting updates on her Facebook as they receive news from the vet. However, there still aren’t answers as to why Marshall is so sick. We are raising money to pay for the medical bills associated with the extended stay, oxygen support, numerous tests and scans, and the very best care possible for Marshall. Please consider supporting them in this tangible way to help ease the financial burden as they deal with the emotional process of waiting for answers. Also, please pray for comfort for Zach and Liz, wisdom for the K State vets, and healing for sweet Marshall. Thank you for your love and care for the Hamm fam!!

On the morning of March 12th, Marshall was wheezing, lethargic, and hadn’t been eating. We immediately took him in and learned he also had a fever, jaundice, and had lost 10 pounds since November. After bloodwork and an ultrasound, we were told by our vet that he likely has lymphoma, but he couldn’t be sure. Zach and I decided we wanted the best care for Marshall, so we immediately got in the car and left for Manhattan, KS. We arrived at the Kansas State University Veterinary Hospital around 8:30pm after a referral from our local veterinarian. He was seen by a 4th year vet student as well as the ER doctor on staff. Here is what we know: He’s very, very sick. Marshall has significant changes to his lungs and is having trouble breathing. He was in an oxygen cage overnight and currently has nasal cannulas to help him breathe. He seems to be tolerating those well. There is an enlarged structure in his abdomen, but they’re not sure what it is yet. They are leaning toward it not being a tumor at this time, could be enlarged lymph nodes, kidney, etc. but will be doing another ultrasound and try to get a sample of it to know for sure. His liver is enlarged and his enzymes are off the charts, which explains the jaundice.
