Marshalls Recovery

4 days ago we noticed Marshall was throwing up every few hours. Over the next 2 days he completey stopped eating and drinking water. When I came home from work that night he hadn't touched the food that I left out for him that morning and I noticed his eyes, mouth, and skin around his ears were very yellow. I took him to Mt Laurel animal hospital to be seen and they told us he's not a cat who should be going home due to how jaundiced he became and that he needed to be hospitalized. For anyone who knows me, knows that Marshall is my life. He is like a child to me. You never expect to bring your pet to the vet and not be able to bring them home. That night we were there for a total of 8 hours waiting for blood work and tests to figure out what our next step would be. They suggested to do an ultrasound and they did that the next day. We went to visit him yesterday after his ultrasound and the doctor had told us he can pancreatitis (this was great news considering some other things they thought it might be) he told us with fluids and antibiotics he should be able to come home in a couple or days. Today they called me with an update on him and I was really feeling hopeful after yesterday's news and the doctor told me "well he's not doing any better or worse than yesterday but he has become more lethargic and his red blood cell count dropped down to 12 (it was at 30 yesterday and 36 is normal for cats.) he said the good thing is he's still eating and is alert and wants attention from all of the staff. He said that cats are different than dogs and humans and when they are sick it's harder for them to get their red blood cell count back up quickly. He suggested a blood transfusion and he thinks that this should get Marshall feeling back to himself. He's been there for 2 days and our bill is already up to almost 4,200. I know he'll still be there for at least a few more days taking medicine and getting tests done. We didn't expect any of this to happen so financially we are trying everything we can to get our baby the help he needs to be better and back to his old self. Anything will help even if it's only a $1 it's greatly appreciated.
