Relocation & Medical Expenses for Baby Emma’s CDH Treatment

Donation protected
A few weeks ago, our family received heartbreaking news. During a routine anatomy scan, Marshall and Emilie learned that Emma Grace has Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). It’s a rare, life-threatening condition where a hole in the diaphragm allows abdominal organs to shift into the chest, leaving little room for the lungs to grow and develop.

At their first consultation in Nashville, they were told that Emma's case is severe and she was given a 65% chance of survival. It was devastating. After doing a ton of research and connecting with another local family, they decided to get a second opinion at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, where Dr. David Kays and his team specialize in CDH. After carefully reviewing Emma’s case, he gave her a 95% chance of survival with the care they can provide.

To give Emma the best possible chance, Marshall and Emilie will be temporarily relocating to Florida. Emma will need surgery within her first week of life, followed by an extended stay in the NICU—likely three months or more, depending on her condition.

Emilie is fortunate to be able to temporarily work remotely and will receive some paid maternity leave. Marshall, however, does not have that option and will be stepping away from work so he can be there for his wife and daughter during this critical time.

We’re asking for help to cover Marshall’s lost wages, living expenses, and travel and medical costs while they are away from home. The last thing they should be worrying about is money while their newborn is fighting for her life.

If you can donate, share their story, or simply keep them in your thoughts, it would mean more than words can say. Every kind gesture helps carry them through this incredibly difficult journey.

Thank you for supporting our family and helping us give Emma Grace the strongest possible start in life.
