Introducing the "Marsh Tacky, South Carolina State Heritage Horse Retirement Foundation"

Our 501(c)3 status is currently pending. The proposal of the Foundation would be to utilize pasture boarding and a fostering program to maintain the health and care of Marsh Tacky horses.

Marsh Tacky horses are part of endangered domestic equine breeds, numbering in the hundreds. Although endangered, they still experience many of the same challenges grade and papered horses experience - sometimes being found in auctions or in need of care and occasionally ending up in rescues. These horses deserve a collective to rely upon in their times of need. Having a retirement foundation specifically for Marsh Tackies would benefit the breed by creating an option in care they do not currently have.
