Car Replacement Fund
Hi! My name is Jackson (known as Mars online) and I live in West Virginia with my husband. My husband is currently unemployed as he was laid off from his job two months ago, and he is actively seeking employment at this time. I currently work from home due to a physical disability.
We are not well-off financially. Even with our combined income, we have not had savings in well over a year. All of our funds usually go towards bills and groceries. It's a struggle to get by each and every month.
Our car, a 1999 Chevy Cavalier, is well on its way to breaking down for good. It has nearly 200,000 miles on it and is in poor condition, shown in the pictures in this album. The dashboard is gone and has broken apart, the air conditioning barely works, and the engine starter, transmission linkage, and blinkers have broken down more than once.
We do not have the funds to afford a car payment nor any savings to purchase a new car at this time. That's why we're asking for help. Over $1000 has gone into repairing the car in the last year just to keep it running.
We live in a rural area, and without a car, we are stranded in our home. We don't have anything within walking distance, and assistance from relatives is not an option. That's why we're reaching out for help online.
We are hoping to purchase a pre-owned or used car that is much newer and will give us reliable transportation that will last. We are not looking to splurge on something extravagant, but have a clean and reliable car we can depend on to get to and from work.
Budget Breakdown:
$4000 - Car costs.
$500 - Property tax, registration, and title fees.
We aim to be as transparent and honest as possible. The both of us have been poor most of our lives and are just trying to survive. We cannot afford to move, and even with a job (most jobs here are scarce and only want to offer minimum wage), savings are difficult to come by.
If you choose to donate, thank you so much for your help. We are more than happy to provide proof of purchases and fees to ensure that we are transparent about this and make sure contributions/donations are spent truthfully.
