Marsaya was just given the devastating news that, at the age of 22, she has been diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkins Lymphoma. This is a rare but treatable form of cancer. Marsaya has only recently begun working as a nurse. She worked hard to graduate nursing school early, move into a new apartment, and was excited to begin her profession.
As a result of her diagnosis, she will have to undergo aggressive chemotherapy for a minimum of six months. Her oncologist informed her that because of her weakened immune system, she will be unable to work. She does not qualify for any short-term disability benefits, such as FMLA, because she has only recently begun working as a nurse at UNM hospital.
We started this Gofundme to help ease the financial burdens she will face during this difficult time. We want her to be able to stay in her apartment, and pay for the things she will need to help make her six months of chemo less stressful.
These are essential things like rent, food, and medical bills. We would also like her to have access to books, painting tools, and other suggested comfort items for chemotherapy patients, such as specialty cushions, so she can pass the time.
We appreciate any love and support you can give!
