Marilyn's First Research Expedition
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Marilyn Brody and I’m on a mission! In order for it to come to fruition, I need your help. I would love for you to take a moment to hear my story as I invite you to become a part of this next chapter of my journey…
Much of my childhood was spent taking care of animals and as I’ve grown up, my passion has become studying their behavior and working to conserve their natural habitats. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked with animals ranging from dolphins to gibbons and it has been so gratifying to witness how the knowledge we accumulate can make an extraordinary impact on the long-term conservation of these animals.
I now have an opportunity to continue down this path of wildlife conservation and research that will be taking me to the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. For two weeks in January 2016, I will be part of a scouting expedition to establish a long term field site for studying the behavioral ecology of gibbons (hylobatids).
The part of the chapter that YOU can be a part of is experiencing the exotic scenery along my journey. I will be creating a photography log of the trip and supporters of the project will receive exclusive images and stories. Depending on your contribution level, you can receive digital downloads, personalized emails, high quality prints mailed to your doorstep, or even a 2016 calendar.
A quote displayed at the Gibbons Conservation Center reminds me why I have chosen to travel across the globe and navigate rugged terrain full of unknown dangers...
"In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught."
I am grateful for your belief in me and the important role we all play, for only through research and observation in their natural habitat can we truly come to understand, love and ultimately conserve these spectacular animals!
