Founded in 1953, Marquette Sailing was once the biggest club on campus. At one point we had our own office, keelboat, and opportunities to travel and compete internationally. While we are much smaller now than the once recorded 400+ members, MUST continues to have a unique place at Marquette. Sailors of any level can come and spend time on Lake Michigan, learn technical and critical thinking skills, and join a community of kind and dedicated individuals. Marquette Sailing is a one-of-a-kind club, a family.
If you know anything about sailing, you know that things always need fixing. Unfortunately, we have encountered an unforeseen expense in our powerboat this fall. Our beloved garage-built boat is no longer safe to operate. Safety is our top priority at MUST, so the executive board has identified the need to purchase a new rib. Without a safe and functional powerboat, we will be unable to hold practices and regattas. Purchasing a boat is our top priority so that we can operate normally before the spring season starts. This being said, we are purposely a low-budget club so that we can make sailing accessible. Our funds are low, and we cannot afford a powerboat on our own. We are asking you to help us financially, so that we can continue to be stewards of the sport.
Our community is a hidden gem on campus, one that we want to preserve. It would mean a great deal to us at MUST if you considered giving to our powerboat fund and supporting our family. Please contact us with any donation questions.
