Marlon Balba

Marlon... a wonderful person and dear friend to so many people.

He was sadly diagnosed with angiosarcoma (an aggressive and rare cancer) in September 2021. He bravely fought through the pain of chemo-radiation, surgery and another round of chemotherapy.

Sadly, the cancer was too aggressive and he sadly passed away on 22nd August 2022 surrounded by loved ones. God granted his last wish for his mum and sister to make it to the UK as he was too unwell to make a final trip back home to Batangas to see the rest of his family and friends.

He was so touched by the many messages of support and encouragement, the prayers for his recovery and healing and the many visitors he had both at home and the hospital. Thank you all so so much.

He was an active member of the Filipino community raising funds for numerous charities through SAFilCA and BAUK. He also helped to organise and coordinate so many of their events including choreographing special dance numbers which entertained the crowds. Of course, he also introduced the world to "Katie's ice-cream" and brought nostalgic joy to so many customers missing the Philippines.

It has been difficult as a family to accept that he is no longer with us, especially someone so young with all of life's opportunities ahead of him.

We will miss his warm presence, his funny sense of humour and great company. Of course videoke will never be the same and the dance floor will feel empty.

We're sad he won't get to see Katie grow into a young adult. But he has already instilled such good values and we know she will continue to be a credit to him.

As his immediate family try to rebuild their lives, we appreciate any help to alleviate financial stress. Please help us to raise money for Lonlon - to give him a peaceful funeral and to go directly towards Katie's higher education fund.

We love you, Lonlon. We know you are with our Lord now, pain-free and at peace. Thank you for so many wonderful memories. Rest in Christ's love.
