My name is Marleyna George and I have been accepted to the MSc in Migration Studies program at Oxford University. To achieve this goal of working in international development, I am looking for support to meet my tuition needs. While the platform shows a lower amount based on gradual benchmark goals, my true fundraising target to bridge my baseline tuition gap is £50,000 (approximately $67,000 USD).
Tuition Costs: £40,710 ($56,610 USD)
Living Expenses: £16,860 ($22,577 USD)
Processing Fees: $2,000 total
My Journey: From NYU to the Peace Corps
I graduated magna cum laude from NYU with a BA in Politics, Rights, and Development. My commitment to this field was deepened while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica, where I studied how to support sustainable development in the Global South.
The Financial Reality
The total cost to attend Oxford is £57,570. Unfortunately, I received no internal funding, and US loan limits mean I can only borrow around £15,000, leaving a significant gap before even factoring in upfront international moving expenses like my UK Student Visa ($656 USD / £490) and the mandatory NHS Immigration Health Surcharge ($1,039 USD / £776). I cannot rely on family for financial support as I come from a single-parent household and my own savings were depleted during my service in the Peace Corps.
My Current Efforts & How You Can Help
To help fund this, I am working 34 hours a week at Target. While these funds help, I cannot close the international tuition gap alone.
Any donation or share is greatly appreciated to help make this dream a reality. I am dedicated to using this degree to make a meaningful impact, and your support would mean the world.
