During a birthday trip in Hawaii, Marlen went out to explore the city on a moped rental. While driving, Marlen lost control of the moped and suffered from major injuries. She fell from the moped onto the road - breaking her clavicle and a few ribs, and had severe bleeding in her brain. She was rushed the to ER where she underwent brain surgery to remove a piece of her skull and the excess blood. She was also treated for her bone fractures. The surgery was successful and Marlen spent 2 weeks at the hospital recovering from her injuries and surgery. She had to learn how to read, walk, talk, and become herself all over again. She will need additional surgery to replace the missing piece of her skull.

Our family is asking for your support in funding the medical expenses accrued during Marlen's medical emergency and new living expenses due to her relocation from Dallas to Midland where her family is caring for her until she is fully healed. Additional donations for living expenses and physical therapy are much appreciated, but anything helps!

Durante un viaje de cumpleaños a Hawaii, Marlen salió a explorar la ciudad en una motocicleta de alquiler. Mientras conducía, Marlen perdió el control del ciclomotor y sufrió heridas graves. Se cayó del ciclomotor a la carretera, rompiéndose la clavícula y algunas costillas, y sufrió una hemorragia cerebral grave. La llevaron de urgencia a urgencias, donde se sometió a una cirugía cerebral en la que se extrajo un trozo de cráneo para eliminar el exceso de sangre y tratar sus fracturas óseas. La cirugía fue exitosa y Marlen pasó 2 semanas en el hospital recuperándose de sus lesiones y cirugías. Tuvo que aprender a leer, caminar, hablar y volver a ser ella misma.
