I’m writing not only as one of Marlene’s closest friends, but also on the behalf of many that miss her. I truly believe Marlene Larissa Komus was one of the most vibrant and quirky young ladies that ever lived. She was tragicly taken away from us October 30th 2016 on Highway 75 when she collided head-on with a car heading in the wrong direction on the divided highway.
This devastated the community that loved her, as many of her friends and family members look for answers that we will likely never find. She was the kind of person who seemed to live more life in her 26 years on this planet than most do in a lifetime, bringing smiles to all those lucky enough to have met her.
With spare time on her hands, she was often volunterring her time to Craig Street Cats, a beloved animal shelter. She was a vibrant young lady with a hopeful career at Canstar working in media advertising, of which she was so excited to discuss. Her life was full of exploration and travel, as she liked to see how other’s lived and gain a better understanding of this world, and the people in it.
The last night she had, she spoke of how grateful she was to have so many positive things in her life. She felt hopeful for the future, thankful for those supporting her, and all around bubbling with glee. We not only lost a beautiful young lady just one week from a special birthday finally spent in Winnipeg (her favorite city), but we lost her in a way that one couldn’t imagine being prepared for.
We are trying to raise donations to help pay for the Komus family’s overall unforseen memorial expenses. There is a large service being planned for our dear Marlene, and we would really appreciate to have your support! She was full of love in her heart, full of spunk and personality, and we want to give her a proper memorial. Many costs for the family are occuring every day that passes. Please send generously to the Komus family, as we all want to show we care and stand by them at this difficult time. Thank you!
