Kasey and Colton's Education Fund

It is with deep sadness we share the news of a tremendous and tragic loss to not only the Unionville Recreation Association, but our entire community as a whole.
Mark Powers wore many hats for URA. Baseball Board Member, Coach, field maintenance, and tireless contributor. If something needed to be done, he was always there to help. Mark had a huge influence on the improvement of the URA Facilities and the URA Baseball program itself, making it arguably the best recreational baseball program in the area. While Mark wore many hats for the baseball organization, the ones he held closest to his hearts were that of Coach, Mentor and friend to everyone he came in contact with.
Mark’s dedication to URA Baseball continued even after his children grew out of the program. Whether it would be for the annual improvement and startup of the snack shack, or simply making some of his famous pulled pork at our tournaments that he was so proud of. Mark’s commitment and dedication inspired many to follow his lead and give back as well.
While Mark’s loss leaves a tremendous void on the Unionville Recreation Association, that loss is multiplied across the community and his family. Mark is survived by his wife Cathie, daughter Kasey and son Colton.
One of Mark’s greatest joys was his children. His face beamed with pride when he spoke of Kasey and Colton’s academic accomplishments and he was the first to tell you they were way smarter than him. He was thrilled with Kasey attending West Chester University where she is currently a Junior and he was looking forward to the college selection process with Colton.
In an effort to keep Mark’s dream alive, we have established an education fund to make sure Kasey and Colton realize their own dreams of completing their college educations. URA is pledging a match of all contributions up to a total of $15,000.
