Uncle Mark's Surgery and Hospital

Donation protected

On Thursday, March 2, my uncle Mark was taking his nephew Josh Hamer (age 15, son of my cousin Jennifer) to school in Bel Air, MD, when they were struck by another car. The resulting crash killed Josh (a sophomore at John Carroll School), and caused serious injuries to  Mark: shattered pelvis, torn diaphragm, and more.

Mark is out of the ICU, and is recovering in the hospital. He had a second surgery Monday March 6 to repair his pelvic bones.

Mark had recently moved to Maryland to live with his sister, my aunt Cheryl, and his nieces,  nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, like Josh, a star baseball player at the school. Mark used to coach Little League, including my team when I was growing up in the SF Bay Area.

Mark is a wonderful uncle to me, an only child of divorced parents living with my mother. He would take me to ball games, camping, or out to see R-rated movies (that my mom didn't want to watch).

He never had much money, but still managed to get me cool Christmas gifts like a wireless speaker, or a GPS, or other gadgets.

I know he is just as caring and giving to his grand-nephews and nieces as he is to me.

Now we need to help him out. The medical bills are going to be expensive, and I don't know what insurance he has, if any, due to the recent move (no steady employment yet).

Mark is emotionally devasted, and he needs our financial and emotional  help. Thank you.
