Mark Lamb, a dear friend of mine and my best friend's husband , was diagnosed this past May with gastro esophageal cancer.  A large tumor was discovered in the base of his esophagus and top part of his stomach.  The cancer had spread to his lungs as well making it Stage 4.  His lungs covered in tiny nodules.  The emotional constraints took a toll on the entire family because Mark is so young (44).    I haven't known Mark and Jenn but for a few years since we've been here but in that short time frame, they've become our family.   It was a complete shock when back pain and stomach issues that was thought to be an ulcer turned into blood-work, CT scans, PET scans and more.  Chemo began with a bang and all the less than favorable symptoms that Mark wasn't handling well.  He was losing weight at a rapid pace and couldnt eat much.   Within in a few weeks him and Jenn spent July 4th at the hospital for a few days and ended up getting a blood transfusion for the loss of blood.  Thankfully, the blood transfusion made a world of difference and Mark was handling chemo  as best as he could.

As the months past, Mark tolerated the chemo rounds every 2 weeks, wearing the dreadful pump for 46 hours straight.   He has come a long way and this journey of his has taught him to be a more faithful, loving, understanding, appreciative man.  Unfortunately,  given this type of cancer Mark was told that its not curable but definitely treatable but will be a lifelong disease to deal with.   Mark will need to pursue further treatment in the coming year(s).  The debilitating costs of cancer is a crippling thought for them.  I know the Lambs would be grateful and humbled for support.

In the midst of all of this, Mark was fortunate to be able to work some on his non treatment weeks if he felt up to it.   Mark is a loyal, dedicated Business Service Technician for Century Link.  His wife, Jenn works for Raleigh Radiology and also does photography on the side.  Their two beautiful girls, Macey (18) and Cassidy (13) are supportive daughters who love their dad very much.

I am asking for support for Mark and his family at this time to help with cost of treatments, lost income, and all other financial constraints they may face as he fights this battle.   Anyone who knows Mark knows he would do anything for anyone and ask for nothing in return and this is our chance to show him how much he means to all of us.
