While attending and presenting work at the American College Dance Association South-Central conference I was presented with many opportunities... the most exciting of which was the chance to attend a 10 day dance intensive presented by Washington DC dance company Christopher K. Morgan & Artists. I received feedback from Mr. Morgan at this conference and had the opportunity to take a modern dance class with him. I would welcome any opportunity to train more with him and his dynamic movement style.
The program runs from June 3 to June 14 and features professionally instructed and leveled classes in multiple disciplines, a photo shoot, and a culminating performance. The program is geared towards professional and pre professional dancers and (importantly for me) does not possess an age cutoff for attendance. It also features a work-study program which mitigates the cost of tuition for this program. I have applied for work study program and am awaiting their decision come mid April. I'm currently searching for other cost mitigating factors (like scholarships and cheaper housing accomodations) but as of this moment the expenses associated with this endeavor are as follows:
Tuition= 350.00 :::
800- 100 (early registration) - 300 (work study) - 50 (discount code) :::
Airbnb near DancePlace= 1250:::
Attending this kind of summer program in a major metropolitan area across the country would be incredibly beneficial to my continuing education as a dance professional. The networking opportunities presented by studying outside of Texas surrounded by professional artists are invaluable. Especially as an adult dancer and recent college graduate looking to take the next step to prepare for graduate school level training. Obviously cost can be restrictive for many people when they pursue artistic goals/ training but this is not an opportunity I can let pass without trying. Your support would go a long way in mitigating the cost of this trip and thank you for even taking the time to click the link and read all of this. I owe so much to my friends and family for their years of enthusiastic support and my hope is that this kind of advancement in my training can help me bring joy to so many of you in the future.
All my love and gratitude,
Mark.
