The "City of Champions" is a tight knit community. We look out for each other. Whenever a member of our "family" is in need we look to see how we can support them. Many of you have heard of the tragic accident that befell a beloved Hancock School teacher, Mark Clark. On Tuesday, July 7th, Mark was riding his motorcycle when he was struck by an SUV that was turning left into a driveway. The driver of the SUV was cited for failure to yield to an oncoming vehicle. He sustained numerous injuries that are going to require a lengthy period of time to heal. Currently he is renting hospital equipment for several months. He needs to purchase a lift to be able to get in and out of his house . Mark has an occupational therapist, physical therapist, and a visiting nurse going to his home. There are multiple prescriptions with high copayments that he requires for pain management and to prevent blood clots. Compounding his soaring medical costs is the cost of daycare for his young son since he is unable to care for him while his wife Adiyu works. Mr. Clark is a very dedicated teacher. You would see his vehicle outside the school as early as 7 am, and his car was also one of the last to leave in the evening. He stayed long after school to tutor children on his own time knowing that extra time with him would help them advance in their subject of need. We often saw him at extra-curricular events at the school with his baby Pierre and his daughters Rachel and Claudia. He loved to attend these activities because he knew how much it meant to his students to see him there. Mr Clark has coached sporting programs at the school; has been that shoulder to lean on for many students; is a leader for the Boy Scouts; and has reached into his own pocket many times to purchase school supplies for his less fortunate students. Please join us in raising funds to help Mark Clark and his family through this difficult and traumatic time. Mark Clark has been paying it forward since he joined Brockton Public Schools. Now it's time for us to lend him a hand. Any support you can give will be appreciated.
